Before your appointment:
You are suitable for treatments if you are looking to enhance your features, restore volume and soften lines.
You are not suitable if you are:
- Under 18
- Pregnant or Breastfeeding
- Previous Allergy to dermal filler
Caution will be taken if you are:
- Allergic to local anaesthetic
- Allergic to beestings and insect bites- increases your risk of allergy to the product we use to dissolve fillers.
- Suffer from recurrent cold sores.
- Are travelling abroad within 2 weeks of treatment.
- Taking certain medications you are taking - this will be discussed in your initial consultation to your clinician.
If you are taking blood thinning medications this is not a contraindication but you are at a higher risk of bruising.
Up-coming events:
Allow two weeks to ensure no bruising,
Allow four weeks to allow for adjustments to settle.
Do not have your first treatment just before a big event:
Plan ahead and have the first treatment 6 months before.
Identify your desired look and top it up 4 weeks before the event.
What to expect after your treatment
Swelling is normal, areas can triple in size the next day and usually goes down after 2-3 days.
Bruising is always a risk, even if you have not bruised before and can last 2 weeks.
There might be unpredictable persistence of filler, shorter or longer than anticipated.
There might be visible raised areas of small bumps, skin discolouration or Fordyce spots around the treatment area.
If you suffer from cold sores, the treatment might result in fresh eruption of the virus. If occurs, consult a doctor.
There might be risks of allergic reaction or infection, although these are rare.
Prolonged firmness, abscess formation or greyish discolouration at the implant site may occur, especially with under-eye treatments.
Before your appointment:
You are not suitable for treatments if:
- are under 18 years old
- you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- if you take certain antibiotics
- treatment if you have previous allergy to Botulinum Toxin
Before your treatment:
- Inform us as early as possible if you have any medical conditions such as an infection, cold sores, neurological conditions (e.g. Myasthenia Gravis, ALS or Lambert Eaton Syndrome) or heart conditions. Your treatment might be delayed or cancelled so please inform us as early as possible and not on treatment day.
- If you are taking blood thinning medications such as Apixaban or warfarin this is not a contraindication but you are at a higher risk of bruising so please inform us as early as possible to allow adjustments to be made for your treatment.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you are not allowed to proceed with any anti-wrinkle treatments.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen or Aspirin at least 48 hours before your treatment, as it may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding from your injectable procedure.
- Do not bleach, pluck or use any hair removal products on the treatment area at least 48 hours before treatment to reduce the risk of irritation.
- Do not use topical products such as retinol or glycolic acid on the treatment area at least 48 hours before and after the treatment as it may cause irritation.
- Do not undergo chemical peels, microneedling, Mesotherapy, lasers or any abrasive procedures on the treatment area at least 5 days before and after the procedure as it may cause irritation.
- Avoid drinking alcohol 48 hours before and after your procedure as it may affect your clotting and increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.
- You can take Arnica pills before and after your treatment, but it is not a necessity.
- Please attend your treatment with no make up and just sun screen if possible.
- Please attend at least 5 minutes before your appointment time, to ensure you check in at the reception.
After your treatment:
- You may have little dots and lumps at the end of the procedure, this will go down within half an hour. Mild swelling or redness at injection site is expected for up to 48 hours post treatment.
- Bruising is always a risk and can last up to two weeks.
- Allow two weeks to see the effect.
- You might experience headaches, tiredness, excessive watering of eyes, mild inflammation of the treatment area.
- You might experience an allergic reaction, infection, facial weakness or asymmetry, dizziness, rash, light sensitivity or double vision, temporary loss of function of neighbouring muscles (such as droopy eye), although these are rare.
Up-coming events:
- Allow two weeks to ensure no bruising
- Allow four weeks to allow for adjustments to settle.
- Do not have your first treatment just before a big event, plan ahead and have the first treatment 4 months before-
- Identify your dose and desired look and top it up 4 weeks before.
The morning before your treatment
Please shower the morning of your treatment and do not apply any product.
If your PRP treatment is for hair wash this thoroughly using regular shampoo, do not add any hair products to scalp or hair.
If your PRP treatment is for skin do not apply any product after washing.
Can I eat normally?
Drink at least 1 Litre of water a day from the day before PRP up until 3 days after. On the day of your procedure, we recommend having a 500ml bottle of water before your session.
Medications
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen and Voltarol for 1 day before and 3 days after your treatment. You may take paracetamol if needed. If you are on any medications please discuss this in your initial consultation.
Alcohol and Smoking
Avoid Alcohol for at least 1 day before your PRP session, ideally 3. We advise to stop smoking 3 days prior to your session. Both can be re-started 3 days after the procedure.
Supplements
Discontinue blood thinning agents such as Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Ginko, Garlic, Flax Cod Liver Oil and Multivitamins 1 week before your procedure. These can be re-started 1 week after your PRP session. If you are on any supplements, please discuss this in your initial consultation.
*If you take Iron and Vitamin D these two can be continued throughout.
Exercise and Spa
Avoid all strenuous exercise including the Gym, Sauna, Steam room, Swimming and Jacuzzi for 3 days after your session.
Hair Colouring
You can colour your Hair up to 3 days before and 3 days after your session
Shampoo
Use your regular shampoo on the morning of the day of your PRP session. Please shower 24 hours after your procedure upon which you may resume use of pH-balanced shampoo if needed.
Facial Redness
The facial redness following PRP facials usually resolves within 48 hours but on rare occasions can take up to 5 days to clear. It is normal to experience a little soreness, itching and swelling at injections sites and if you do experience any discomfort, we recommend paracetamol. Please avoid applying ice to any treated areas.
